Avery, Barchester and Stow Healthcare celebrate LaingBuisson Awards

Care home providers Avery Healthcare, Barchester Healthcare and Stow Healthcare were amongst the winners at this year’s LaingBuisson Awards.

Stow Healthcare triumphed in the Residential Care category, while Avery was honoured for its Excellence in Training programme in the Innovation & Leaders category. Barchester, meanwhile, celebrated an awards double for its property development team and for CEO Pete Calveley who was acknowledged for his Outstanding Contribution care.

Commenting on its recognition for its Excellence in Training programme, Sandra Stark, Care and Quality Director for Avery Healthcare, said: “We have the best training and development team in the sector, led superbly by Shelley Parker-Wain, who has designed and implemented class-leading programmes for all levels of care and non-care staff, and has innovated with such strategies as the Advance Senior Carer programme; that has been accredited by none other than City & Guilds and leads the sector in helping to support the pressure on nurses and adjusts the skills mix. Excitingly, there’s more to come from this amazing team.”

Barchester CEO, Pete Calveley, added: “I am very proud to have won this award. The care sector is a demanding and ever changing one, but at the crux of it all is people wanting to live fulfilling lives, who need our expertise, and I never want to lose sight of that at any level of care. Barchester’s Property Developer of the Year 2018 award was collected by Pete alongside Director of Property Services Mark Bennett, Chief Financial Officer Mark Hazlewood, and Mike O’Reilly, General Counsel and Director of Care, Risk and Compliance.

The 13th LaingBuisson Awards, which were hosted by Pointless TV presenter Alexander Armstrong, took place at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge in London.
