Avery Healthcare has been granted permission for a £6.5m care home in Leicester.

The 60-bed home, which is to replace vacant luxury flats site currently occupying the site, will be built by contractor, Wildgoose Construction Ltd.

An Avery Healthcare spokesperson said: “After overcoming various obstacles, Avery Healthcare is now very much looking forward to being able to develop the Monsell Gardens site to deliver a first class residential care home for the city of Leicester.

“The current poor buildings will be replaced with a single brand new purpose built facility to serve the local community, with an expected opening in the spring of 2021.”

The home, which will create 60 full time jobs, will be built in a modern interpretation of the Victorian style, with stone feature details and steeply pitched roofs.

Facilities will include en-suite rooms, companion rooms for couples, a choice of lounges and dining rooms, an all-day reception café, hair salon and barbers, a purpose-built cinema, plus a private dining room for residents to entertain family and friends on special occasions.

Avery told CHP the home was part of an “aggressive build plan” consisting of at least six new services over the next 24 months.
