Barchester Healthcare has marked a milestone in the construction of its Melbourn Springs Care Home in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire.

The ‘topping out’ ceremony signalled the completion of the latest stage of the 75-bed care home, which is being built by McGoff Construction.

Andy Williams, the Senior Property Development Manager at Barchester, said: “The home is really coming together. The design of the home will not only allow our operational colleagues to provide the best level of care for the residents who live there, but also ensure the residents are able to live dignified lives in surroundings that allow them to be as independent as they choose to be.”

The 75-bed home, which is set to open its doors to residents in December 2019, will provide residential and dementia care for older people in Melbourn and the wider community.

Facilities will include large dining areas with access to the terrace, relaxing lounges with garden access, life skills kitchens, an activities room with interactive, multi-sensory dementia facilities, a cinema room, en-suite bedrooms, spa bathrooms, an in house hair salon, and Wi-Fi available in all parts of the home.

McGoff Construction Manager, Ged Rodgers, said: “We were delighted to reach such a significant stage in the build process today. It was a pleasure to share the occasion with our project partners Barchester Healthcare. We look forward to handing over the Marketing Suite in the next few months which will allow finished aspects of the care home to be showcased.”
