Barchester Healthcare’s Mortain Place Care Home in Eastbourne has reached a construction milestone with the holding of a ‘topping out’ ceremony.

The home, which is being built by McGoff Construction, is set to open its doors in October 2019.

Mark Bennett, Director of Property Services at Barchester, said: “This is our seventh project with McGoffs and we couldn’t be more pleased. After launching and opening our first home constructed by them last summer in Lichfield, we were recently named a finalist in the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards.

“Each new build uses a bespoke Barchester Healthcare design that has incorporated learnings from all levels of the business, including customers and carers. This was to ensure each of our homes are not only safe, comfortable and welcoming, but luxurious, spacious and thoughtful. The home’s design will not only allow our team members to provide the best level of care for the residents who live there, but also ensure the residents are able to live dignified lives in surroundings that allow them to be as independent as they choose to be.”

The luxury new home will feature en-suite bedrooms with smart TVs, spa bathrooms, in house hair salon and Wi-Fi.

McGoff Construction Contracts Manager, John Redford, commented: “We were delighted to reach such a significant stage in the build process today. It was a pleasure to share the occasion with our project partners Barchester Healthcare. We look forward to handing over the Marketing Suite in the next few weeks which will allow finished aspects of the care home to be showcased.”
