Care village operator Belong has been recognised for its innovative approach to keeping its residents active and healthy.

The care provider triumphed in the Innovative Quality Outcomes category at the annual 3rd Sector Care Awards.

Belong Deputy Chief Executive, Tracy Paine, said: “it is a privilege to have won this prestigious award. Innovation is a key pillar of Belong’s approach to achieving the highest quality of care across all our villages, and so to be recognised for this is extremely rewarding.”

The award, which celebrates the use of innovation to achieve life changing results, acknowledged Belong’s specialist, personalised exercise programmes and the implementation of state-of-the-art SilverFit equipment, which uses gaming and virtual reality to engage older people in exercise for longer.

The Belong programme has helped improve its residents’ mobility, strength, stamina and balance. Eighty five year old resident Mary Britcliffe is now able to work without her mobility scooter and walking aids having taking a three-month programme at the village.
