Stockport not for profit elderly care provider Borough Care has partnered with apetito on a new menu at its 11 homes.

The new menus have been created with the help of residents, families and staff through regular tasting sessions.

Preferred dishes were overwhelmingly softer food options and included a wider choice of vegetarian and fish dishes. The menu includes a daily meat, fish or vegetarian option.

Borough Care also holds regular food related theme nights with its curry night a firm favourite.

Mark Dale, Catering & Hospitality Manager at Borough Care, said: “The new menus we have recently rolled out across our homes are being very well received by residents.  Our catering team has worked hard to create delicious, nutritious choices based on feedback from both residents and staff.  At Borough Care, we know how important a well-balanced, nutritious diet is to the health and wellbeing of our residents. It’s important we serve dishes that both look appetising and taste great so residents enjoy eating them and get the essential nutrients they need.”

Andy Lowe, Care Homes Divisional Manager, apetito, added: “We are delighted to be able to support Borough Care with the introduction of these new menus. We work very closely with our customers to understand both their needs, and their residents. By designing menus that meet the residents’ tastes and diets, we are making a real difference to their day. Food plays such a pivotal role both in the healing process and in the maintenance of health and well-being, by offering such variety we are able to promote nutrition within the home.”
