Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has completed the sale of Fairways care home in Boscombe, Bournemouth to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council.

The home, which is registered for 70 people and is rated Good by the CQC, provides elderly and dementia care.

It was extended by the addition of a new purpose built three-storey wing, which accommodates 30 residents, under previous owner, MD Care (UK) Ltd, and has been thoroughly refurbished and upgraded.

Dennis Thompson, Director of vendor MD Care (UK) Ltd, said: “When I bought Fairways I could see there was potential to extend and I have enjoyed the planning, building of the extension and running of the home and feel that I am handing over a totally different business to the one I took over. I have enjoyed my time at Fairways but feel the home would benefit from a new owner’s input. This is the second time I have sold a care home through Charles at Christie & Co and it has been a pleasure working with him once again.”

Charles Phillips, Director at Christie & Co’s Winchester office who handled the sale, added: “When Dennis asked us to market the home I was delighted to assist, having sold this home to him in 2011 and also having sold a previous home he had on the Isle of Wight back in 2006. I was very impressed with the work he had carried out during his ownership. With all their knowledge and resources, I am confident that the new owners will do very well at Fairways and we wish them all the best.”
