The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) has confirmed that incumbent chief executive Tony Hunter will step down on March 31, 2020.

Hunter is set to continue to work with the SCIE in a smaller capacity including chairing the Doncaster Children’s Trust.

On his departure, Hunter said: “The last six years have without doubt been amongst the most stimulating and productive of my 40 years in social work and associated organisations across sectors.”

In 2010, Hunter was awarded the OBE for services to social care in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

In the intervening months, the SCIE will be looking for a new chief executive to work alongside the chair, Rt Hon. Paul Burstow, and will accept applications until November 25.
