Canford Chase in Poole, Dorset has become the fourth Colten Care home to achieve CQC ‘outstanding’.

The achievement means that 20% of Colten Care’s homes have the CQC’s top rating.

Mark Aitchison, Colten Care’s Chief Executive, described the achievement as “fantastic”, adding it was a “tribute to the pride, passion, commitment and dedication of our team”.

“Colten Care has 20 homes with four rated outstanding – 20% of our homes – and the other 16 as ‘good’,” Mark said. “That’s a truly exceptional statistic by any measure.”

The CQC praised Canford Chase for its “positive, person-centred, open and inclusive culture”, describing staff as being “motivated in their work and proud of the service”.

The inspection report commented: “Care was planned and delivered in line with current good practice and standards. Standards of nursing care were very high.

“A vibrant activity programme based on people’s hobbies, interests and wishes and tailored to their individual needs.”

Charlotte Wilson, Home Manager, said: “I have never worked anywhere with such a fabulous team as we have here at Canford Chase.

“Our residents are at the heart of everything we do and our staff are dedicated to delivering the highest level of care. It is wonderful for that to be recognised by the CQC.”

Residents, staff and management marked the achievement with a giant celebration chocolate cake, baked by the home’s chef, and champagne.
