Dame Moira Gibb, chair of the Skills for Care Board, is to chair the Digital Care Conference at the Millennium Point in Birmingham.

The Development and Ethics of Technology in Social Care event takes place on 12 December 2019 at the Millennium Point in Birmingham.

Dame Moira said: “I am delighted to be chairing this conference which will be looking at the involvement of technology, especially digital technology in social care. There are brilliant technology innovations happening in care, this event will be an opportunity to showcase these innovations and to ensure we can effectively integrate technology into social care…. I am very much looking forward to it.”

The event will feature national and International speakers, panel discussions and seminar sessions.

Organiser Mohammed Gbadamosi said: “This conference is all about social care and not social care as a side agenda… this is different. Digital technology can help address the challenges facing the sector, however, there is a need for a critical discussion on how we effectively integrate technology into care without losing the core values and the social element of ‘caring’. We are also making it as inclusive as possible by ensuring 30% of our tickets are made available for free for carers, care workers and those with lived experience.”

Registration for the event is now open with a super early bird discount tickets. A call for paper submissions is also open – organisations and individuals with an innovative project, research or product should contact the organisers. Sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting the organisers via https://techforcare.co.uk/seminars-conferences/digital-care-conference-2019/
