HSBC helps restore care home to former glory
A £9m HSBC finance package is helping return a Stoke-on-Trent care home to its former glory.
The HSBC package was used by the Twigge family to purchase the formerly ‘outstanding’ rated Trentham House nursing home in November 2018 and is also enabling a £1m renovation programme.
David Ramsden, Corporate Banking Area Director in the West Midlands, HSBC UK, said: “The Twigge family have successfully run Bradwell Hall for the past 30 years and saw an opportunity to take on Trentham House and replicate this success. We are always inspired by businesses which play such an important role in the community and strive to ensure they can develop and expand their presence in the market.”
The renovations, which begin in January and are expected to last for 12 months, will include 60 new en-suites, new carpeting across the whole property, installation of new specialist beds, mattresses, hoists and the complete re-fit of 60 rooms.
Trentham House is already home to 20 residents and will see a further 70 residents move in following the completion of the works. The business hopes to create up to 200 jobs, including nurses, carers, kitchen staff, maintenance workers and domestic staff, and increase turnover to £3.5m.
Edward Twigge said: “Trentham House used to be an outstanding care home and we are committed to returning it to its former glory. The renovations planned for the home will provide a warm and welcoming environment for residents as well as create job opportunities for the local community. The support of our Relationship Manager at HSBC UK, Andy Wyeth, has been key in helping us put the renovation programme in place.”
