Meallmore begins work on £7.5m Ayrshire care home

Scottish nursing care provider Meallmore has begun work on a 52-bed, £7.5m home in Doonfoot, Ayrshire.

The home will provide around 60 full time jobs in a variety of roles, including nurses, care assistants, hotel services staff, administrators and managers.

Michael Gillespie, property director for Meallmore, said: “This new home has been designed to offer the highest quality facilities for our residents, making the most of the outdoor space available.

“We will be putting together a team of professionals, with a focus on local recruitment, who will give our residents the highest standard of care, based on their individual needs. We look forward to welcoming residents when the care home is complete.”

Construction work, which is being carried out by Mactaggart & Mickel, will be completed in summer 2020.

Jamie McLean, group head of construction at Mactaggart & Mickel, said:  “We are bringing our award-winning construction expertise to this development, while ensuring that the care home will blend seamlessly with nearby housing and other amenities.”
