Minister for Care, Caroline Dinenage, has hailed this year’s Care Innovation Challenge as a “brilliant opportunity” to bring new ideas into the sector.

Led by the Care Innovation Hub (CIH), the final of the challenge will be held on Wednesday, 14 August at the Department of Health and Social Care.

Ms Dinenage said:  “Innovations in the care sector have the potential to transform how care is delivered and make a real difference to the lives of people across the country who rely on adult social care to live independent, full lives.

“The Care Innovation Challenge is a brilliant opportunity for students, graduates and professionals from across industries to come together to kickstart innovative new ideas and solutions to some of the challenges facing the sector. I urge anyone with a creative idea to apply and help shape the future of care.”

The Challenge is a hackathon style event where entrepreneurs come together to kickstart new ideas specifically for the care sector. At the launch of the Challenge on Day 1, CIH will host a Club meeting. C-level executives will meet with participants to discuss the biggest challenges facing the sector and explore how their innovative ideas could become sustainable solutions for the sector.

Applicants can sign-up individually, however, if they can source two to three other people to work with from different academic backgrounds, it will help in developing a strong business case using the variety of skillsets in their teams. CIH welcomes applicants from all professional or academic background. The main pre-requisite is a passion for social impact.

Applications are now open until 18th June 2019. Please visit www.careinnovationhub.org/apply-now  to download the application form. Participants are required to send completed form to [email protected]
