Larchwood Care’s Badgers Wood Care Home in Drayton has been rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC.

The home, which provides residential care for up to 37 people, joined the top 3.5% of adult social care services following an inspection in March.

Anne Riches, the home’s registered manager, said: “We are delighted with our latest CQC report which is testament to the passion, dedication and hard work of our staff at Badgers Wood.

“We all pride ourselves on delivering individualised and person-centred care to enable our residents to have maximum choice and to live as fulfilling a life as possible.”

One resident’s relative told inspectors: “Let’s put it this way, nothing is perfect, things can always be improved, but here, it’s as near to perfect as it can be. We even joke that we’re going to put our names down to move in here.”

Another commented: “There’s always something going on. It’s unbelievable how hard the activity co-ordinator works. There’s a lot of choice and staff let me know when something is about to start.”

Of Anne’s leadership, one staff member said: “She is so good, it’s not often you see a manager go around helping as much as she does. She lives and breathes the place. I love working here.”

Larchwood Care’s chief executive officer, Tony Stein, said: “This CQC rating is recognition of the passion that Anne and the team at Badgers Wood have to care. The home is an extension of the local community in every sense.

“HCMS and Larchwood Care is committed to delivering the highest standards of service for all of our residents and we look forward to more outstanding ratings in the future.”
