Skills for Care has announced the opening of the Workforce Development Fund (WFD) for 2018/19.

Care home providers in England are able to access funds to cover the costs of employees completing adult social care qualifications and learning programmes between January 1 2018 and March 31 2019.

Skills for Care CEO Sharon Allen said: “The feedback from employing organisations is they have found the support for the Workforce Development Fund to be absolutely invaluable in making sure their workers can access high quality learning and development opportunities.

“We also want as many of England’s 20,300 employers to apply and I would urge them to do so as the funding really does make a difference.”

Funding support is dependents on the size of the qualification or learning programme.

The fund, which is distributed on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care, helped 3,637 organisations supporting 20,648 learners in 2016-17.

A full list of funded adult social care qualifications and learning programmes is available on Skills for Care’s website. To find more about the Workforce Development Fund or how to apply go to www.skillsforcare.org.uk/wdf.
