Staff member joins Board of Barchester’s Charitable Foundation

Scott Beat, a regulation manager at Barchester Healthcare, has joined the Board of the care provider’s charitable foundation.

The husband and father of three from Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, was appointed as a Trustee of the Board of the Barchester Charitable Foundation in February.

Scott said: “I am very honoured to join the board for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation. The charity does fantastic work for people and communities all over the UK, and really make a difference to those who can become disconnected with their neighbours. I am looking forward to putting my passion for care into action, and making a difference to those in need.”

Scott impressed the Board with his lengthy career in the care sector as a former nurse, undertaking both senior clinical and managerial roles, as well as his training as a solicitor for the Supreme Court. Scott’s career also included being an inspector with the Care Quality Commission.

Pete Calveley, CEO of Barchester Healthcare and Chairman of the charity, said: “We’re very pleased to have Scott join us on the board, his experience, along with his passion for helping people will I’m sure, bring great insight to the charity and we’re looking forward to working with him on his exciting ideas.”

Barchester’s Charitable Foundation awarded £150,000 in grants to 96 small community groups/local charities and 76 individuals in 2018, helping reduce isolation and loneliness, promote group activities and improve people’s mobility, independence and quality of life.
