Start-up launches social care funding calculator

Start-up business, Elder, has announced the launch of a social care funding calculator that allows families to plan ahead by estimating their eligibility for funding options.

The calculator provides estimates of funding eligibility by asking a series of straightforward questions in order to determine the type of care required and users’ needs.

Pete Dowds, Elder CEO and founder, said: “This calculator is designed for better understanding and understanding gives a feeling of control, it’s empowering. Finally, families across the country can be empowered to understand not just support from local authorities, such as direct payments but also NHS funding and even their eligibility for equity release.”

Elder said 72% of the system’s users have been surprised to find they were eligible for some level of funding through their local authority.
