Former Strictly Come Dancing star Flavia Cacace has officially opened Ideal Carehomes’ Woodthorpe Lodge in Loughborough.

Flavia joined General Manager, Preet Hundal, and Registered Care Manager, Tracy Taylor, to mark the new care home’s official opening with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

The dance star said: “It was an absolute pleasure officially opening Woodthorpe Lodge and meeting all the staff and community members. The facilities are wonderful and I’m sure residents will very much enjoy living there.”

Providing 24-hour residential and dementia care for 66 residents, the state-of-the-art home has created 50 new jobs for local people.

Guests gathered to watch Flavia declare the home open, and then enjoyed several dance performances from children who attend the local Loughborough Dance School. Residents from neighbouring Ideal Carehomes also attended the event, with the ballroom dance group from Fairway View in Nottingham seizing the opportunity to take to the dance floor with Flavia for a waltz.

Kay Paul, Ideal Carehomes Regional Director, said: “All our residents love watching Strictly each year and many enjoy dance activities so Flavia was the ideal guest to cut the ribbon at Woodthorpe Lodge. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that made this community event so special.”
