Bolton-based contractor and house builder Seddon has begun work on the £7.9m development of 57 independent living apartments in Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester.

The one, two and three bedroom apartments for specialist developer Adlington are designed for those 65 and over.

Ed Wootton, Seddon regional director, said: “Assisted living is a sector that we know very well and our team have extensive experience of delivering this kind of project to a high standard.

“Developments that combine high-quality living space, on-site amenities and access to care and support are becoming increasingly popular for members of the older generation looking to downsize to a home that better fits their needs.

“This complex will offer an ideal space for residents to live and socialise and we look forward to working closely with Adlington to deliver it.”

The development will provide on-site care for future residents and also feature a table service restaurant, homeowners’ lounge, hairdressers, guest suite and activities studio.

Adlington director Dr Ed Gladman added: “Adlington continues to grow from strength to strength, and having never had a presence in the Bury area before we are delighted to bring our independent living concept to Ramsbottom. Our recent Gold Award win for Best UK Retirement Development at The WhatHouse? Awards 2017 – UK housebuilding’s most prestigious event – is testament to all our efforts.

“Our apartments are great for those looking to downsize and we pride ourselves in helping purchasers every step of the way; from helping to sell their original property, de-cluttering and removals, to a complimentary handyman service when they move in.”

The development is expected to be completed by autumn 2019.
