Avery Healthcare has received planning permission for an £8.5m care home in Aylestone, Leicester.

The purpose-built care home is to be built on the site of two uncompleted apartment blocks that have stood empty for more than a decade.

Director of Estates and Development for the Avery Group, Adrian Doyle, told CHP: “This new £8.5m home will be delivered by main contractor Wildgoose Construction Ltd and will provide a boost to the local economy with the creation of 60 new full-time jobs and the use of trades and professionals and materials supplies from the locality wherever possible. Monsell Gardens is part of an aggressive build plan for Avery of at least six new services over the next 24 months.”

The home, which is expected to be completed in late 2012, will carry all the trademarks of a quality Avery development, with a range of smaller lounges and dining rooms to all floors, an all-day café, cinema, hair salon and barbers, spa therapy room and landscaped gardens. All the spacious 60 bedrooms will have private en-suites and be furnished to a high standard with flat screen TVs. Some of the ground floor rooms will open out on to patio areas and the gardens.
