South coast care home provider Colten Care has scooped a prestigious business award.

The family-owned care operator was named Company of the Year at the 2018 Solent Business Awards at the Hilton Hotel in the home of Hampshire cricket, the Ageas Bowl.

Mark Aitchison, Chief Executive of Colten Care, said: “This award is further proof that despite all the negative national press about care homes there are extremely good care home groups out there, of which Colten Care is at the vanguard.

“Our residents are the very heart of our business and we make sure they receive the best care and life experiences possible.

“Reviews from them and their families and our regulator show we are the best care home group of our size not only in the Solent but across the UK.”

Judges said the award, sponsored by KPMG, was made for “strategic thinking, an outstanding financial track record, a dedication to excellence and a dynamic approach to quality and innovation”.

Founded more than 30 years ago, Colten Care said it was the only private care home operator in the UK that designs, builds and runs its own homes.

It has invested strongly in professional nursing, dementia care, employee engagement, residents’ companionship, the dining experience, community links and the physical quality of its homes and gardens.

As well as the award win, Colten Care was shortlisted as a finalist for Management Team of the Year.
