Ms Ferchiu was charged with ill treatment or wilful neglect of an individual. She will appear at Warwick Magistrates Court on 13 March.

A Barchester spokesperson said. “We offer our condolences to the family of our resident. The nurse involved was immediately suspended following these allegations and then dismissed after an internal investigation took place.

“We supported the police throughout their investigation and would like to reassure everyone of our commitment to those residing at Overslade House. The health and wellbeing of our residents and staff is at the forefront of everything we do and we are committed to supporting the authorities as this case progresses.”
