Orchard Care Homes celebrates Leaders in Care Award shortlisting

Orchard Care Homes has celebrated its shortlisting for the Leaders in Care Awards residential Innovation in Care category, sponsored by apetito.

The leading provider of specialist residential, dementia, nursing and short-term respite care is one of five nominees in the category for the Care Home Professional and Home Care Insight awards which take place on Wednesday, October 9 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

Orchard Care was shortlisted for its new bespoke software, Project Ragnarok, which is the brain child of Head of Business Systems & Management Information, Rachel Smith.

The state-of-the-art software system, developed in partnership with Civica, a global IT-based services partner in digital solutions, aims to reduce the use of agency by ensuring the workforce is rostered effectively, to provide staffing that allows for greater continuity of care, minimises duplication and allows staff to spend more meaningful time with residents in the homes.

The announcement followed closely on the heels of news that Orchard has also been shortlisted in one of the leading care sector accolades – the LaingBuisson Awards – and highlights its commitment to provide the highest quality of care through constant improvement and investment in technologies.

Tom Brookes, CEO at Orchard Care Homes, said: “I am very proud of the team to be shortlisted for this award. Over the past 12 months, we have embraced technology to improve quality of care and operations within the homes. Project Ragnarok reduces time-consuming manual processes, capturing staff data in one place and most importantly, improves the quality of care for our residents.”
