HC-One’s St Martin’s Court in Swansea has been praised by the Care Inspectorate after being found to be fully compliant with its regulations.

In a report published last month, the regulator said all recommendations made following its previous inspection had been addressed at the service.

The report said: “We found that people living in St Martin’s Care Centre are supported to live their lives as they choose. People receive support that focuses on their needs. The manager and the nursing team provide good direction and ensure the staff team are well supported. Systems are in place to monitor the quality of care, and action is taken to address any issues that arise.

“We saw that the issues identified at the last inspection have been addressed; meals are discussed with people at each mealtime, there is good supervision in all communal areas, bathroom items are properly stored when not in use, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) applications are applied for on time and the home is odour-free in all areas.”

The report also praised staff at the home for their “understanding” and “caring” attitude, with the service described as “comfortable and homely” and full of “friendly banter and laughter”.

Managing Director, Ruth Yates, said: “This glowing report is fantastic news. I would like to thank the whole team for their commitment to delivering the kind care that HC-One is known for across our family of care homes.

“We are dedicated to achieving our aim of being the care provider of choice for those looking for the very best care and support, and employer of choice for the best, most professional, and kindest care staff.”

Home Manager, Joanne Lacy, added: “We are absolutely delighted, and so proud that the Care Inspectorate has recognised our achievements. It is a testament to the kindness and hard work that each and every member of our team puts in, day in day out.

“We never stand still at St Martin’s, and every day we strive to provide a better service than the day before. This ethos is what motivates the whole team when they come to work each day, and we’re absolutely thrilled that this has been recognised by the Care Inspectorate, it means so much!”
